What's involved in a facial? A short guide from our skin clinic
Are you feeling a bit stressed out with daily life? Perhaps when you look in the mirror in the morning, you notice that your skin looks dull or that you have more smile lines or patches of dry skin than you did before?
This, unfortunately, is not uncommon and can be a sign that you are working too hard or that your skin is stressed out. After all, your skin is an organ and is a signifier of good health. And while you could waste a small fortune on moisturisers, there is a simple way which is guaranteed to make you feel more relaxed and will make your skin glow.
If you are feeling stressed and you come to the Skin Studio UK, our skin clinic Surrey will likely provide you with a facial treatment. This will help you to feel more relaxed as you take in the luxurious smells and sounds of our clinic, and will also help you to leave the session with your skin glowing and feeling refreshed.
But if you are new to the world of facials, you may be curious as to what is involved in a standard one. And here, our team at the skin clinic Surrey provides you with a very short guide.
Cleaning
The first step that you will experience is a cleansing of your skin, and our facial providers at the skin clinic Surrey will do this using damp hot and cold towels, which are applied to your face. These will be gently wiped over your skin and will open your pores. They will also remove any oils or dirt from the surface of your skin, which can lead to it looking and feeling dull.
Exfoliation
The next stage is exfoliation, which is designed to remove the dirt from your newly opened pores and remove any dead skin from the surface. We will use a gentle circular motion to remove the dead skin and will focus on areas of dryness or excessive oils, which will leave these areas looking and feeling very soft.
Moisturising
The next stage is to moisturise the skin. As the skin will have been cleansed and exfoliated, it will now be able to absorb any moisturisers better than it did before this treatment. Our team will use your chosen moisturiser to revitalise your skin and will rub it in using small circular motions. If you are going for a feeling of being more relaxed post-facial, we may mix the moisturiser with lavender essential oil. Or, if you are looking for a more awake response to your facial, we may use orange or lemon-based oil.
Facial massage
Massage is a core part of any facial and is aimed to bring blood to the surface of the skin to give you a glowing complexion. Massages will usually be very gentle and soft, but at certain times, you may feel a little bit more pressure. This will not be uncomfortable and will usually unknot some rather tight facial muscles.
Indian head massage
A facial does not end at your face, and our facial team will also aim to massage your neck, and your shoulders and will even offer an Indian head massage, to relieve any tense muscles that may be causing headaches or stress.
