A guide to microneedling from our skin clinic

When it comes to keeping the skin wrinkle-free and plump, you may notice new products and treatments coming out all the time.

With each option promising better results than its predecessor. Which can make it a bit tricky to choose the right option for you, especially if you have used treatments before, such as dermal fillers and facial peels.

This brings us onto the subject of one of the newer skin procedures that we can offer. Microneedling.

At Skin Studio UK, we have helped hundreds of our clients to get the smoother, softer, and plumper skin that they want, using microneedling. We know at our skin clinic Surrey that this treatment is non-invasive and can have the results that you desire in less than a week. Giving you a more natural, healthier glow.

What is microneedling?

It is worth noting from the beginning that this treatment is also known as collagen stimulation therapy. And the treatment of microneedling involves the use of a pen or roller, which has many fine needles in it being rolled or placed on the skin. Allowing these needles to get underneath the skin's surface and break down scar tissue, wrinkles, or acne marks by boosting the collagen. Our skin clinic Surrey will be able to offer you a topical numbing gel if you have sensitive skin. Which can make the process easier to tolerate. But don’t worry! With our expert team, it shouldn’t be uncomfortable at all.

What it treats

As mentioned earlier, microneedling can treat deep-set wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, and stretch marks. It can also treat sun marks, damage, and differences in skin pigmentation. It can also shrink pores and rejuvenate skin that is ageing and sagging. Depending on the severity of the skin condition, you may need more than one treatment to combat this.

If you have a skin issue that you want to be treated for and are curious if this treatment would benefit you, call our team for more information.

How it is performed

Microneedling simply involves a friendly member of our team placing a numbing gel over the area that we are about to work on. We will also usually add water, which will help to keep the skin lubricated.

The procedure itself takes between 15-30 minutes and will involve a roller or pen being placed over the area of the skin that you want to have treated.

After care

Once the treatment is over, your skin is likely to feel slightly sore and have a red tint to it. Similar to minor sunburn.

This will take a few days to fade. But don’t worry! This is normal. Along with minor bruising and blood spots. If you have concerns about the effects you are experiencing as the result of microneedling, contact our team.

Longevity of results

Overall, microneedling lasts between 4-6 weeks, depending on your age and the severity of the issue that is being treated.

So, you can have this option reapplied every 4-6 weeks. But as you have it performed more regularly, these appointments will likely become more spaced out.
